General Advice and Tips for Replacing your Key Case
Here are some general tips to follow whilst replacing your key case:
Always work on a clean flat area preferably with a white background and good lighting. Because car keys contain small parts it is important to be able to see any parts that may fall out.
Double check for any screws. If you are applying pressure and the key is not coming apart check for screws. Sometimes they can be hidden behind the manufacturers badge.
Be careful with any tools you are using. If you are using a tool to pry the case apart be careful not to injury yourself.
DON’T throw your old case away until you have tested that the new key works. If you try the new key and the car won’t start it means you have not transferred over the transponder immobiliser chip. Sometimes this chip is not on the main circuit board. If this is the case hold the old key close to the vehicle as well as the new one. It should now start. You will now have to carefully look for the transponder chip.

Key case turned up a few days after the order went in. As others mention, some careful file work was required to get the old blade into the new case. Works fine now.
Needs minor modifications for 2007 T5 Van
I bought these cases after the chrome flip housing fractured on one of my original VW fobs on my 2007 T5 van, causing the key to fall out. The replacement cases are of a very good quality, however I found that the root of the original key was too thick to insert into the new flip housing. The electronics fitted ok however there is a small bulb inside which also needs transferring over for the immobiliser, however I found the cavity inside the new fob is too large so will need blue tack pressing in to stop it rattling. I plan to grind the roof of my key to a flatter shape after which I’m sure it will fit ok. It’s possible I have selected the wrong key option, but it’s hard to tell, however I think after a small amount of effort it will be worth it.
Finding a good key case
This key case is good quality the transponder fits in properly you do need to file your old blade a bit but it's better than other copy's on ebay.
