General Advice and Tips for Replacing your Key Case
Here are some general tips to follow whilst replacing your key case:
Always work on a clean flat area preferably with a white background and good lighting. Because car keys contain small parts it is important to be able to see any parts that may fall out.
Double check for any screws. If you are applying pressure and the key is not coming apart check for screws. Sometimes they can be hidden behind the manufacturers badge.
Be careful with any tools you are using. If you are using a tool to pry the case apart be careful not to injury yourself.
DON’T throw your old case away until you have tested that the new key works. If you try the new key and the car won’t start it means you have not transferred over the transponder immobiliser chip. Sometimes this chip is not on the main circuit board. If this is the case hold the old key close to the vehicle as well as the new one. It should now start. You will now have to carefully look for the transponder chip.

Good service but key case didn't work
Unfortunately this key case was different inside from my old one. The Mazda dealership got me a new top part with the chip and key but have had to re-use the old lower part as the buttons were the wrong way round on the replacement case and the PCB didn't fit either (despite the after-sales guy trying for around half an hour while I sat and watched!) Apparently there are two designs for a Mazda 2 and this is the wrong one for my car. Very prompt service from KeyCaseReplace though.
Replacement Key Case
Arrived quickly, well made and simple to set up using existing original key.
Simple and easy
Ordered the case and recieved the next day. Was straightforward to open and replace the innards from my key into. Took less than 15 mins. My local locksmith cut the key for me for £6. All in all very happy
Bad purchase
Timpsons had two tries to cut the key. Didn’t work. Then tried opening the purchased body It’s not the same as my original one. I failed to see how to open it and there no instructions on how to open it. Not worth spending further money and time on. Pity looks as if it could be a good product. Instructions would have helped
